For some time earlier to 15th January 2013, I was noticing some changes in the search results. My site was moving in SERPS on same page. Then it was noticed that new sites were coming on top of my website and disappearing and that was resulting my site to dance.
Then on 17th January 2013, I was shocked to see my site disappeared from search results. I was on page 2 of Google search, and on 17th it was on 25th page. Same day, it was on page 28th, after few hours on page 18 and then dancing every few hours.
My site has unique contents and is updated regularly with quality guest posts related to my industry. And I have 4 targeted keywords.
Then on 23rd January I was surprised to see my site back on page 2 and stable with a few new sites on top of me. With another set of keywords, my site used to rank on page 4 and on the 23rd January 2013, it was on page 1.
I quickly did all the search of my keywords and found it on same position or better in most of the cases. But I was seeing new websites on top of me somehow.
So I decided to make a new website to check out the results. I acquired a new domain name, loaded WordPress on it, added a theme, and made few pages with unique contents. I did some web 2.0 link placements and sat back.
For the next few days till now, I posted few backlinks on it every day and at the same time made changes on the home page contents after every few hours keeping my keywords the same. On 27th January, I noticed my site appearing on page 13 of Google search. To my surprise it remained there whole day and is still there. I am posting backlinks on web2.0 with unique contents in every post and using long tail of keyword.
Google Penguin Update
Now, I am not sure what this is. Is it Google dance or Google penguin update? I have 3 websites and all are in same niche with same keyword targets. But I have optimized the sites with different methods just to be on the safe side under such updates.
Now on 27th January, I am sure the site that I optimized mostly with comment posting backlinks is dropped in search result and still not back to its same position. Whereas the site that was optimized via web 2.0 backlinks was down, danced a lot and back to stable position.
To share more, I need to tell that my site is targeted for UK visitors and my new website which I started on experiment basis is with .me TLD set to target UK visitors as well.
